i don’t need
fancy ways
and shiny things,
give me
slow hands,
honest eyes,
and full attention
with ease
…give me priceless things.

the butterflies rising poem ‘i don’t need fancy ways and shiny things: slow hands’, is a poem by butterflies rising that is published on page 175 of wild spirit soft heart in the love section of the book. The poem was written about her first love. He was a beautiful, creative spirit, and she loved who he was as a person, and loved his soul energy. Things like money and material items are not things that ever mattered to her. He however had his own struggles and one of them was that he felt his status and material things were something that he needed to use to impress her. So this poem was something she wrote about wanting him to know that none if mattered, all she wanted was to be in his energy. She republished the poem in her book ‘she’s flowers and fire’ and the poem also inspired another poem of hers called ‘the priceless things‘ that can be found in ‘she’s flowers and fire’ as well.
‘i don’t need fancy ways and shiny things’ originally had a slightly different version:
not all girls need
fancy ways
and shiny things,
some would rather have
slow hands,
focused eyes,
and full attention
with ease
…give me priceless things.
