“on your own
is where your
wildflowers grow,
there’s no one else here to
block their sun,
but no one else can water
them but you”
– butterflies rising
The butterflies rising poem ‘on your own is where your wildflowers grow’ is published in her poetry book ‘wild spirit, soft heart’ in the self-love section on page 40. butterflies rising wrote this poem about the peace and freedom that comes with solitude, but also the responsibility of it. When we experience phases of solitude, we are able to put down the noise and judgement and limitation that comes from others, however, we also become responsible for supporting ourselves. So there is no one else to hold us back, but we also become the ones to build ourselves up.
