‘may we hold on to the promises our souls make’ is a quote by the author butterflies rising that is in her poetry book ‘wild spirit, soft heart’. It was a quote that came to her talking in her sleep and her best friend happened to be next her when she said it so she woke her up and had her write it down. When butterflies rising originally published it, she posted it as a poem. SHe eventually streamlined back down to the original quote of ‘may we hold on to the promises our souls make’ after a few months as she felt the quote captured the original meaning better. However, she still has affection for the micropoem, and here is that piece:
